Silicone Gels
Silicone gels (KSG series) are silicone fluids swollen with silicone fluids and other oils and fats. The type with silicone chains as the cross-linked portion acts as an oil-phase thickener and is a functional material that can impart structural viscosity. We offer a lineup of products that are compatible with various silicone fluids and come in a wide variety of textures. (*For types with hydrophilic crosslinked parts, please refer to emulsifying silicone gels.)
Cross-linked silicone gels have a molecular structure in which silicone chains are intertwined. There are three types: standard type, which consists only of silicone; alkyl branched type, which has alkyl chains unrelated to cross-linking; and silicone / alkyl branched type, which has two types of branched chains, silicone and alkyl. Each type swells in silicone fluids with which it is compatible. Can be used in W/O, O/W, and non-aqueous systems to impart structural viscosity to the oil phase and improve formulation stability. A wide range of texture characteristics are available depending on the cross-linking structure and type of silicone fluid, allowing selection according to the application.
