Shin-Etsu Silicone Selection Guide for Cosmetics

TITANIUM DIOXIDE

This is a low-viscosity, highly stable dispersion of high-concentration, fine titanium dioxide particles dispersed in volatile silicone fluids.
It has a smooth, non-sticky feel and can be used to create products with high SPF.

(Not specified values)

The SPD series uses dispersants with high dispersion performance, enabling stable dispersion of high-concentration fine particles, and all products are low-viscosity dispersions.
SPD-T5 is recommended when you want to prepare products with high transparency.SPD-T6 and SPD-T7 are recommended for more efficient UVB protection.
In particular, SPD-T7 contains a high amount of titanium dioxide, which means that it can be used in lower concentrations in formulations while still providing high UV protection, thereby expanding the range of possible formulations.

Transparency of SPD-T5

The photo on the right was taken through a glass plate coated with SPD-T5 (using a 6 µm thick wire bar).
Due to its high transparency, the text underneath is clearly visible.
