5G Products – Silane Coupling Agents for Low Dielectric Materials
With the widespread use of 5G (fifth generation mobile network), low-dielectric resins such as PPE, LCP, MPI, and PTFE are being used for various components such as Copper Clad Laminates (hereinafter referred to as CCL), which are the materials for printed circuit board.
Since low-dielectric resins generally have poor adhesiveness and wettability, there are many cases where adhesion does not occur sufficiently even when general silane coupling agents are used as adhesives or primers.

Please note that this table is only a guide, and the most suitable silane coupling agent will vary depending on the compatibility of the target resin or substrate with the organic functional groups in the product.
Model of Smoothness of Cupper Foil
As shown in the figure below, not only resins but also copper foils, which are indispensable for circuit board materials, are changing to low-roughness and no-roughness materials with improved surface smoothness in order to reduce transmission loss, making it difficult to provide adhesiveness.
Model : Cross Section of Copper Foil

In this trend, our silane coupling agent has a wide lineup of unique and highly functional silane coupling agents, which are not available from other companies, and will greatly contribute to the improvement of adhesion to the above-mentioned hard-to-adhere materials.
Expected Applications
Copper clad laminates, bonding sheets, glass fibers for low-dielectric resin additives, filler surface treatment, and adhesives for hard-to-adhere materials etc.
In addition to integral blends of silane coupling agents, they can also be used for systems requiring aqueous solutions such as copper foil surface treatment and glass cloth treatment.

As shown below, adhesion improvement can be expected.
Epoxy-on-glass Adhesion Test
Test method
①A 1% aqueous solution is applied to a glass substrate.
②A Cured material (epoxy resin/triethylenetetramine) is prepared and adhesive strength is tested.
*Adhesion strength is calculated against a standard of 100(untreated glass).

Water-based Silane Coupling Agent
VOC-free Type Silane Coupling Agent
For use in applications where aqueous solution is required.
The alkoxysilyl groups are all in the silanol state, reducing the amount of methanol and ethanol generated by more than 99%.
The alcohol normally released when a conventional silane coupling agent undergoes hydrolysis can be minimaized.
(Ex.) When 100KG of KBE-903 is hydrolyzed, 62KG of ethanol is released. ←VOC-free is required.
Features
- The step of hydrolysis can be eliminated
- The amount of alcohol released is reduced by 99% or more.
- Nonflammable
- Lower amounts of VOCs released
Expected Applications
- Primer
- Surface treatment
- Binder
- Mixing with water paints
