W/O Applications
Emulsifying silicone gels and silicone emulsifiers can be used as emulsifiers in W/O emulsions.
Emulsifying silicone gels (KSG Series) is a swollen form of a three-dimensional crosslinked structure, where silicone is crosslinked with hydrophilic groups. It strengthens the interface of emulsion particles and maintains stability. It is also suitable for preparing high internal phase W/O emulsions.
Silicone emulsifiers (KF Series) feature silicone chains with either straight-chain or branched structures, enabling control over emulsion particle size and making them suitable for preparing finer emulsions. A wide variety of hydrophobic and hydrophilic groups are available, allowing selection based on application and desired texture.

Using emulsifying silicone gels enables the formation of large-particle-size W/O emulsions. Since the crosslinked material strengthens the interface of the emulsion particles, it is possible to prepare W/O creams containing a very large amount of aqueous phase in the internal phase. Furthermore, because the crosslinked material swells in the silicone fluids and imparts structural viscosity, stable W/O cosmetic formulations can be obtained.
The hydrophobic portion comes in three types: a standard type composed solely of silicone chains, a type with alkyl chains unrelated to crosslinking, and a type with two types of branched chains (silicone and alkyl). Each swells in compatible silicone fluids.
The hydrophilic components come in two types: polyether and polyglycerin modified. Being three-dimensional crosslinked compounds, they provide a non-sticky feel. In particular, polyglycerin modified silicone offers high moisture retention, delivering a soft and moisturized texture.

Silicone emulsifiers with linear or branched hydrocarbon groups can control emulsion particle size and are suitable for preparing finer emulsions.
Our linear type lineup includes products with various HLB values; those with low HLB values are useful as W/O emulsifiers.
We also offer products with alkyl chains attached to the silicone backbone (KF-6048).
Silicone branched types include those with only silicone branches (KF-6028, 6104) and those with two types of branches: silicone and alkyl (KF-6038, 6105).
The optimal choice can be made based on the compatibility between the silicone fluids used and each surfactant.
There are two types of hydrophilic groups: polyether and polyglycerin.Polyether-modified silicone enables the preparation of finer emulsions,Polyglycerin modified silicone provides high water retention and a soft, moisturized feel.
