Silicone Emulsifiers
Shin-Etsu Silicone offers a wide range of products that can be used as surfactants and powder dispersants. Products with silicone as the main chain are available in two types: linear and branched. (*For crosslinked types, please refer to Emulsifying silicone gels.) We also offer two types of hydrophilic groups: polyether and polyglycerin. In addition, we offer silicone acrylates, which are dispersants with high powder dispersion performance.
Surfactants with linear/branched hydrophobic groups (silicone emulsifiers) can control the emulsion particle size and are suitable for preparing finer emulsions. We offer a lineup of emulsifiers with linear type hydrophobic groups and various HLB values, which function as O/W or W/O emulsifiers depending on the HLB value. Emulsifiers with branched hydrophobic groups include those with silicone branches (KF-6028, KF-6104), those with alkyl branches (KF-6048), and those with both silicone and alkyl branches (KF-6038, KF-6105). The most suitable emulsifier can be selected according to the silicone fluid used. There are two types of hydrophilic groups: polyether and polyglycerin. Polyether modified silicones can be used to prepare finer emulsions, while polyglycerin modified silicones have high water retention properties and impart a soft, moist feel. We also offer polyglycerin-modified silicones (KF-6106 and KF-6115) and silicone acrylates (KP-578) as products specialized for powder dispersants.
