Silicone Materials
for Resin Modification

About Silicone Materials for Resin ModificationApplication examplesProduct lineupReference material

Silicones greatly expand the potential of resins, enabling the creation of materials of higher quality and functionality.

Silicones are highly functional resins that combine the characteristics of both inorganic and organic substances and exhibit an array of useful properties including heat resistance, cold resistance, weatherability, dielectric properties, release properties and water repellency.

By introducing silicones into other resins, the user can create new resin materials with enhanced functionality that includes not only heat resistance, weatherability and flame resistance, but improved impact resistance, lubricity and flexibility.

With their enhanced functionality, these high-performance composite resins are lightweight and have excellent fabricating characteristics and are used in a myriad of fields including electric and electronics applications, automotive applications, electrical wire, and construction.

Silicones for resin modification are available in many forms such as silanes and silane coupling agents, resins, oligomers, silicone fluids, modified silicone fluids and powders, so the user can choose the right type of product for the intended application and usage conditions.

Application examples

  • For resins: To improve lubricity, release properties, anti-blocking properties, impact resistance, stress-relieving properties and coloring properties.
  • For rubbers: To improve surface smoothness, anti-wear properties, heat resistance, cold resistance and release properties.
  • For resins: To improve light-diffusing properties, impact resistance, surface smoothness and anti-wear properties.
  • For paints, inks, coating agents & waxes: To improve surface smoothness, pigment dispersibility and matting properties.
  • As a raw material for cosmetics
  • For resins: To improve heat resistance and adhesiveness.
  • For paints: Paint modification.
  • For polycarbonate: To improve flame retardancy.
  • Highly weather-resistant coating agents
  • Materials for modification of heat-resistant resins
