Silicone Oligomer Type R
Type R silicone oligomers have reactive functional groups such as epoxy and acrylic groups, and can be copolymerized and co-modified with other organic materials. The siloxane structure is expected to improve heat resistance.
Type R products are categorized into alicyclic epoxy group and acrylic group products. The alicyclic epoxy group products, which also form a cured film on their own, are mainly used to control the curing shrinkage of epoxy compounds, add heat resistance, and improve leveling. In addition, acrylic-based products contribute to the suppression of cracking of multifunctional acrylic compounds.

Alicyclic Epoxy Group Type
These silicone oligomers have only epoxy groups as reactive functional groups, and can be cured by acid anhydride, light or heat cationic curing. While the curing mechanism is similar to that of epoxy resins, they possess the heat resistance and high Tg of siloxanes. In addition, the type with a cyclic siloxane structure has the advantage of minimal shrinkage during curing.
Features
- These silicones contain reactive functional groups.
- Comparatively low molecular weight and excellent compatibility with various materials.
- Cures by light or heat when an acid generator is added.
- Heat curing by addition of acid anhydride, amine catalyst, etc.
- KR-470 has excellent curability, hardness and strength after curing.
- KR-470 has almost no shrinkage during curing.
