Shin-Etsu Silicone Selection Guide

Silicone Resins

Silicone resins are a resin with a relatively high molecular weight and a three-dimensional network structure, and has superior performance to organic resins in terms of heat resistance, weather resistance, and electrical insulation.

Silicone resins are a group of products whose reactive functional groups are silanol groups (Si-OH) and whose molecular weight is large. The silanol group undergoes a dehydration-condensation reaction when heated, forming a hardened film. Since it is a high molecular weight, it is used in fields where higher heat resistance is required. Originally, most of the products were made with organic solvents, but recently, solid,TX solvent free, and water-based products have been added to the lineup. Addition cure type products with reactive functional groups of vinyl group and hydrosilyl group are also available.
