What precautions should be taken when storing silane coupling agents?

  1. Store in a cool, dark place (out of direct sunlight, at room temperature or below, with no condensation), away from moisture.
    Silanes with heat-polymerizing properties, such as KBM-1403, KBM-5803, KBM-5103, X-12-1048, and X-12-1050, should be stored refrigerated (0 to 5°C).
  2. We guarantee the quality of our silane coupling agents in the unopened state.
When exposed to moisture or humidity, it will hydrolyze and change its quality, and also generate methanol and hydrogen chloride.
Therefore, be careful not to leave the container open, and be sure to seal it tightly after use to prevent moisture and humidity from entering. Ideally, air in the container should be replaced with dry nitrogen. If the product is stored in a bottle or other container after opening, the alkali content in the glass will cause it to deteriorate, so please use it up immediately.
  3. Isocyanate silanes and functional group-protected silanes cannot be used in the pretreatment method where they are added to water and hydrolyzed.
Isocyanate silanes will be deteriorated by carbon dioxide gas generation, and functional group-protected silanes will be deteriorated by the release of protective groups.
