How to determine the amount of silane used in a silane coupling agent?
The optimal amount is determined by the specific surface area of the filler and the minimum coverage area of the silane.
Amount to be Treated
The amount of treatment for filler is usually 0.5 to 2 wt%. The following model equation can be used as a guide to determine the amount of silane required to treat the filler with a monolayer surface.
For rough estimates, evaluate 0.5 to 2 wt% of filler. Some types of filler will provide excellent results while others will not.
